Lake Geneva Yacht Club hosted the 55th E Scow National Championship. A prestigious championship for one of the best one-design classes in the world.
85 teams invaded the Lake Geneva area the home of Melges Performance Sailboats and North Sails Zenda.
The professional PRO Bruce Golison raced the fleet 2 races per day totaling 6 championship races deciding the National Championship. Special guests on his RC team were mid-line boat Buddy Melges. One of the best sailors in history and certainly one of the best E scow sailors to ever race. Along side of him was North Sails Zenda Representative and 2012 E scow champion, Jim Gluek. Both of these great sailors helped to put on an incredible sailing championship.
North Sails clearly dominated this event as the top 10 in the overall championship sported North Sails. The 2013 Champion is Kevin Jewett representing Lake Kegonsa. Kevin and his team raced with the standard AP E Main, Light – Medium Jib and standard E Asymmetrical. Kevin showed great speed but most of all sailed the boat very well and positioned his boat on the race course in elite fashion. Kevin held off local favorites Vincent Porter and Brian Porter – both champion E Sailors.
Congratulations to Kevin Jewett and his team for sailing exceptionally well and thank you for using North Sails.
Congratulations to the Lake Geneva Yacht Club and PRO Bruce Golison for running a first rate championship!
The 2014 E scow National Championship will be held in early September at Crystal Lake, Michigan. One of the best scow sailing lakes in the world. Don’t miss it!
