Charlie Enright joins
Charlie grew up sailing various one-design classes out of the Bristol Yacht Club on Narragansett Bay. He began his competitive sailing career in the Optimist Dinghy. As a member of the US National Team he enjoyed success on the national as well as international level. After leaving the Optimist class, Charlie began sailing double-handed dinghies like the Club 420, the Vanguard 15, and even spent some time in the 505 class. Charlie attended Milton Academy where he captained the sailing team and took home a National Championship his senior year. After graduating from Milton, Charlie moved on to Brown University where he earned a number of New England and Atlantic Coast Championships and became a three-time member of the Ronstan All-America Team. (Honorable Mention) After his junior year at Brown, Charlie tried out for, and made, the final crew on Roy Disney’s Transpac 52 Morning Light. He took a year away from school to train with some of the best teachers in the sailing world and ended up finishing the 2,250 mile Transpacific race third in class. Since leaving the Morning Light experience Charlie has focused his efforts on the J 24 class while doing tactics on some larger one-design keelboats. Charlie is an active member of Newport’s Fleet 50 and enjoys Team Racing whenever time permits. Charlie can be reached at the North Sails Rhode Island office at (401) 683-7997 , or by email to charliee@od.northsails.com. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Mr. Vince Brun
