F18

The North F18 sails have been developed from the successful work carried out in the Tornado class over the past years. Knowledge gained from flow membrane projects has resulted in the computer moulded designs available today. Careful attention has been paid to mast bend and finishing of the various individual classes. This gives sails specifically tailored to your class of F18.

The individually manufactured sails have then been carefully tested by experts in lofts around the World. Main, jib and spinnaker are designed using the “North Sails’ proprietary Spiral Design software, used on everything from the winning Optimist and Olympic classes to VX40s and America’s Cup sails.”

F-18 Full Radial Mainsail

The North mainsail is a powerful sail which is very responsive to downhaul, meaning that the sail is fast and easy to use across the range of conditions. In marginal winds there is power for early hull popping, as the wind increases and downhaul is applied and the sail will twist off to gradually de-power the rig.

Mainsails include:

  • Sail numbers
  • F18 insignia
  • Vision/spreader windows
  • Sail bag

Battens sold separately.

F-18 Full Radial Jib

The new North jibs are designed to compliment the North mainsails. Entry angle of the jib will remain unchanged, but slightly more depth has been put into the base. Attention to the sheeting angle will ensure that you get the most from this jib across the wind range. The sail comes complete with vision windows, insignia, sail numbers, battens, and sail bag.

F-18 Asymmetric Full Radial Spinnaker

The North F18 Spinnaker is an all purpose sail, that has proven to be very fast downwind, giving good speed and depth. Careful attention to panel layout has resulted in a stable sail that is easy to trim. If you need any tips on luff tension and set up contact our class experts. Made out of Dynakote .75 spinnaker cloth.
